if i see one more article, post, or news anchor talking about how joe biden is old, i'm putting my fist through a window. i feel like i've gone through the fucking looking glass.

this is project 2025, trump's plan for what he'll do if elected. whatever you think is in there, it's worse. watch a breakdown of the highlights here. this man wants to unravel the fabric of our democracy for good - this all aside from his vitriolic hatred of poc, his determination to start ww3, and the fact that he can't string a sentence together without telling outrageous and easily verifiable lies. his administration will start their crusade to exterminate trans people on day one, and they won't stop there.

do not talk to me about how joe biden is old, as if that could ever matter to me more than my life or the lives of my friends and family. my little sister is 14, she's trans, and i don't know what to tell her when we talk about politics, because one of these people wants her dead and the other one is old and some of you are still acting like those problems are equals.

i can't fucking stand this. i'm not hearing it this time, we are not repeating 2016. refusing to vote is not an act of protest, it is an act of complacency, and our most vulnerable will suffer for your negligence. vote like your life depends on it, because for some of us, it really fucking does.

reminder to doms that if a sub doesn't actually seem attracted to your version of dominance, you don't have to play with them.

reminder to subs that all doms have different tastes, and it's okay if you don't mesh with someone.

you don't have to force things just because they're the first serious dom you've found lol.

ratslutcontainment

one more thing.

subs, it is not reasonable or okay to drop into subspace the instant a dom so much as flirts with you. that leaves the dom in an unreasonable situation where they then feel a responsibility as a dom to not just drop you. especially if you haven't even been talking and vetting each other long enough to establish safewords. this is irresponsible play, and you need to maintain some situational awareness and critical thinking, especially while first vetting someone. is the dom enjoying this scene, did they want this scene, or did they lightly flirt with you twice before you started jerking off and using titles with them?

doms, you are allowed to bow out of any scene, even - especially - if you haven't had time to establish safewords yet. especially if you aren't really that into it, and are just doing it to make sure the sub doesn't drop. if you're too busy, had other things you planned to be doing, just plain old didn't want to be doing a scene at that moment. you are always allowed to stop.

I really think people have forgotten just how bad things were under the Trump Administration. Literally every day there was news about some service being cut or someone terrible appointed somewhere they shouldn't be or what have you. He constantly flirted with WW3 and military dictatorship. It was such a blur of badness that there aren't big standouts for people to point to to make him "the XYZ president." it was everything. all the time. Why do we not remember this.

runawaymarbles

Remember how everyone learned Zelenskyys name? he wasn't the presiden of Ukraine standing up against a longshot defense against a Russian invasion. He was that guy that Trump tried to extort in order to get blackmail against Joe Biden.

Can anyone name the current secretary of education? I can't. But I can list the shitty things Betsy DeVos did

lookninjas

He literally signed an executive order blocking people from six (primarily Muslim) countries from entering the United States a week after he took office. A week after he took office, we had people on airplanes back to the States getting turned away. We had people with legitimate visas getting turned away. Permanent residents were being detained at airports for days. People with dual citizenship didn't know what the fuck to do. There were lawyers camped out at airports. There were protests. We went from taking 1800 refugees a week to taking 2. 2 refugees. The entire time the executive order was in effect.

A week after he took office he did this. A fucking week.

Here is a list of what Joe Biden did on his first day in office

  1. Require masks on federal property.
  2. Rejoin the World Health Organization
  3. Set up a COVID office that reported directly to him.
  4. Extend the foreclosure/eviction moratoriums.
  5. Freeze student debt collection.
  6. Rejoin the Paris Climate Accords
  7. Revoke the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, ban drilling in national parks (where Trump had issued orders permitting it), and setting stricter fuel economy standards for vehicles
  8. Terminating the 1776 Commission.
  9. Revoking Trump's changes to the Census that would have shortened the time Census takers had to work and excluded undocumented immigrants from the Census
  10. Strengthened protections for kids here under the DACA (Dream) act, which Trump had tried to eliminate. (Note: This program is currently suspended due to a suit from the Texas 5th district court, although the current federal government maintains its legality.)
  11. Abolished Executive Order 13780, aka the revised version of the Muslim Ban.
  12. Canceled the Trump Administration's Interior Enforcement Rules, and I'm just gonna quote from Politico here because I can't seem to find a good way to summarize: "Biden revoked a Trump executive order that massively expanded immigration officials’ interior enforcement work and broadened the categories of who they should try to detain and deport. His acting DHS secretary then issued a memo pausing deportations for 100 days beginning on Jan. 22."
  13. Stopped work on the border wall
  14. Expanded deportation protection for Liberians
  15. Banned workplace discrimination against LGBT employees
  16. Signed an ethics pledge and ordered every employee in the executive branch to do likewise.
  17. Froze every Trump administration regulation that was currently in progress, requiring that they be reviewed by his administration before any of them could be enacted. (These included rules to speed up processing at chicken factories, despite concerns that this could lead to increased worker injuries and salmonella outbreaks. They also included a rule that would have reintroduced firing squads for federal executions. I'm finding it difficult to see if any of those frozen regulations were ever allowed to take place. You'd think at least the firing squad one would be easy to track down).

It's a lot of smaller, occasionally kind of policy wonk-ish stuff. He didn't save the world and create an eternal paradise in his first hundred days. But a lot of people could breathe a little easier, whether or not they knew the work that went into it.

And, you know, people weren't being held indefinitely at airports while Trump fought to revoke their visas for being the wrong kind of Muslim (aka the poor kind), so there's that.

#i was in elementary and middle school during trump so i don't remember what it was like but I'm sure it was awful

@writingraccoon it was! And it's going to be even more awful if he's elected again, because he's actually got a plan this time--it involves staffing every government office with loyalists, which would include things like the department of education, the EPA, the CDC, and so on--and now thanks to the Supreme Court he gets immunity on anything he does in office ever.

The fact that all this is going on and all the media seems to be concerned with is how old Biden is is making me fucking insane.

TIL “Yankee Doodle” was written by the British to mock americans. “Doodle” is thought to come from the German “dödel”, meaning “fool” or “simpleton” and “macaroni,” a flamboyantly stylish type of dress, painting the Yankees as morons who thought placing a feather in one’s cap made them a “dandy.”

so you’re telling me that “stuck a feather in his hat and called it macaroni” would be like saying “wrote a G on his belt and called it gucci”

that’s…a pretty good analogy actually

Why can my brain not focus on the current project, instead of the one like 6 projects down the line? Like, brain, honey, in order for THAT project to exist and make sense, we need the FIRST one to exist FIRST!

I’m actually playing modded Minecraft (All The Mods 9) to try and space out so my brain might come to a decision on some background stuff I need to work on the first book. I *finally* decided on the name of the restaurant my MC works at/co-owns, so that’s done. Now I just need city names…for an entire planet.

And the name of an entire planet.

KMN.

Democracy is when one insane billionaire gets to decide if an entire category of people get basic dignity and rights

saxifraga-x-urbium

Now is a really good time to be able to push back on that. Feel free to ask why a woman who has denied the Holocaust has a more important voice than several hundred thousand trans people and our loved ones, and also to ask if Labour has any plans for addressing the deficiencies in LGBTQ rights in the UK reported in the UN Special Rapporteur's dossier on this shithole nation :)

We really going to ignore the fact that he donated once and is just using the same screenshot over and over?

Edit:

To clarify, I have no issue with someone donating.  I’m pro-choice myself.  The issue is he donates once when he says he’s going to donate each time, just so he can virtue signal about how he refuses to engage with someone.

Furthermore, I have issues with him replying to any criticism with this.  You can criticize the smug pride in not engaging in debate and beating your opposition, yet he’ll assume you’re pro-life as a result.

He’s being a smug prick who is playing you all like a fiddle to get jerked off and you’re all falling for it.

quinzelade

If this is the hill you want to die on, Spidey, go for it. I’m quite happy with the idea of someone donating money to Planned Parenthood, and since I don’t know or care who he is, the virtue signalling is lost on me.

That aside, being suspicious of everyone for any nice act all the time is mentally exhausting so miss me with that.

thespectacularspider-girl

… I literally say I have no issue with him donating money.

But he’s saying “I’m going to donate every time” and then he posts the same donation page.  So rather than do what he says, he’s donating ONCE and using it to as an own against other people while using it to get ass pats from people who agree with him.

That’s literally the same screenshot, two hours apart.

This is like “man pledges to build house for every homeless person evicted from X location” except he builds ONE house and takes the same picture of it over and over again, yet claims he’s built 100 houses.  It’s deceptive and he’s doing it to milk people for social praise.

The goal wasn’t to help people, because if it was he’d actually donate every time.  It was to get ass pats.

Like we know Biden would never but God imagine if he just had Trump assassinated as an official act right now and then resigned from office. What would SCotUS even do.

magicalgirlmindcrank

Like you can't impeach him, he's resigned. You can't prosecute him, that was an official act as God-President. You can't even turn the precedent over, you just fucking set it. Joe just goes home and lives out his remaining year retired from the public eye and gets to watch the chaos unfold on TV.
